IFM workshop at ICID European Regional Conference

Montpellier_ville“Innovate to improve irrigation performance” was the theme of the 26th European Regional Conference of the International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage (ICID). From 11 to 16 October 2015, about 500 experts in the field of irrigation gathered in Montpellier, France to exchange views and experiences on different aspects of water saving in agriculture. Taking place between the 7th World Water Forum and the Climate Conference in Paris (COP21), the event hosted a tight schedule of scientific sessions, workshops, roundtables, and thematic meetings, including the APFM training on “Integrated Flood Management: from theory to practice”. During the workshop, an audience of young professionals from different countries had the opportunity to learn about floodplain management and impacts of flooding on agriculture within the overall approach of Integrated Flood Management (IFM). Appreciated both by the public and ICID’s President, the training represented a good occasion to reach out to a new group of practitioners’ in the agricultural domain and to reinforce cooperation between APFM and ICID.
