Brazil-Uruguay

Study site, River Basin, Brazil/ UruguayCuareim Quaraí is a the transboundary river basin sharing water resources between Brazil and Uruguay. The pilot project has been developed and coordinated in Brazil by the “Instituto de Pesquias Hidraulicas” (IPH) and in Uruguay by the “Dirreccion Nacional de Hidrografia” (DNH), so as to develop non-structural actions to manage floods within the framework of Integrated Flood Management.
The activities undertaken include an evaluation of possible approaches to flood management duly assessing both structural as well as non-structural measures with active involvement of the community.
