Stakeholders from the Volta Basin countries are taking part in a regional 5 day training workshop on the impact-based flood forecasting system and bulletin tool integrated into the myDewetra-VOLTALARM platform.
The workshop which started on Monday June 12, 2023 in Cocody (Abidjan), Côte d’Ivoire is part of the VFDM project, “Integrating Flood, Drought and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin”. Its aim is to warn and alert stakeholders of the Volta Basin in real time of disasters linked to flood and drought hazards for early action to protect lives, properties and environment.
Over five days, participants will be provided with theoretical and practical knowledge on flood forecasting, as well as opportunities to test among all stakeholders the bulletin tool developed according to roles and procedures previously defined through the myDewetra-VOLTALARM platform.
The workshop funded by the Adaptation Fund, is aimed at building capacities of the national meteorologists, hydrologists, water resource managers, environmental managers and civil protection officers from the Volta Basin countries and will enable them to develop their skills and knowledge for synergistic action at local, national and regional levels.
