Organization and holding of six (6) national capacity building workshops

The six national capacity building workshops on “Nature-based solutions” for the stakeholders of the Volta Basin with a view to develop bankable projects are presently organized in the Volta Basin countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Togo) under the framework of the Volta Flood and Drought Management (VFDM) project, funded by the Adaptation Fund.

The national workshops of Cote d’Ivoire and Togo were held from 23 November to 25 November 2021 in Abidjan and 29 November – 1 December 2021 in Togo respectively.

National workshops in other four countries will be organized in December 2021 and in January 2022.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and Global water Partnership-West Africa (GWP-WA) Consortium in collaboration with International Union for conservation of Nature (IUCN), as a technical partner in this VFDM project, will strengthen national capacities on the nature-based solutions for effective management of floods and drought events and taking it into account in identification and development of bankable projects for the mobilization of related financing at both national and regional levels.
